“You shouldn’t have to shout to make yourself heard on radio. Taking the simple thought of ‘It’s good to talk’ a step further, a small girl phones through her entire back catalogue of songs to her bemused mother.

The performances are entirely natural, captured rather than scripted, so avoiding what in the wrong hands might have been schmaltz.

And crucially, in this most crowded of mediums, a decent time length allows the story to breathe, so that instead of being shouted at, for once we feel we are listening in.”
