“‘Bummer’ isn’t an attempt to do radio in a radically different way or overturn the conventions of the medium. Instead it is a classic radio ad – a two-handed comedy sketch, tautly written and acted with perfect comic timing.

A hapless male thinks an element of honesty will extricate him from a common domestic dilemma, but succeeds only in digging himself in deeper. It’s all rounded off with the familiar sound of a match being struck and the relaxed tones of Bach’s ‘Air on a G string’.
