THE RADIO ADVERTISING HALL OF FAME 2005

Welcome to the second edition of the UK Radio Advertising Hall of Fame.

The first Hall of Fame was published in 1997 and was by far our most demanded CD, being reprinted twice in the intervening years.

This time the voting was conducted online, with over 1500 advertising people logging on to listen, and giving scores to a shortlist of nearly 200 award winners from the past few years. Ads were rated on a five point scale, and the thirty ads that scored best are included in the new edition.

In this micro-site you will find not only the credits for the commercials and the scripts, but also insight from some of the voters on why they gave the scores they did. It’s clear from their comments that, while the writing is the critical foundation for the ad, the really successful ads involved care and skill in the production stages – the importance of this is sometimes under-estimated.

Research shows that creativity can make a 500% difference to the recall of radio campaigns. That kind of creativity is worth striving for, paying for, and celebrating. Congratulations to all the teams involved in the Hall of Fame ads.
